In recognition of Black History Month, this presentation will cover US Colored Troops activity in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas as well as the Confederate Troops present in the region during the US Civil War. This will be a Facebook Live event.

Roseann Bacha-Garza is currently a Lecturer of Anthropology and the Program Manager of the CHAPS Program at UTRGV. She is co-author of Blue and Gray on the Rio Grande: The Rio Grande Valley Civil War Trial and co-editor of The Civil War on the Rio Grande as well as The Native American Peoples of South Texas. The book Images of America: San Juan was authored by Roseann and the San Juan Economic Development Corporation which won Preservation Texas’s Heritage Education Award.
