Author Anamely Salgado Reyes shares story of family and memory.
In “My Mother Cursed My Name,” the Olivares women have always tried to control their daughters’ lives – starting with their names. When Felicitas finally meets her abuela Olvido, she’s shocked to learn two things: one, Olvido isn’t your warm, fuzzy kind of grandma, and two, she’s a ghost with a list of things she wants fixed before she’ll move on.
Author Anamely Salgado Reyes, who grew up between the RGV and Mexico, brings us a story grounded in family, memory, and the things we inherit – whether we asked for them or not. This session will be a conversation about complicated family ties, the weight of names, and what happens when the past won’t stay buried.
Following the session, the author will be signing books in the Computer Lab from 12:30–1:30PM. Book sales will be handled by our exclusive bookseller, The Storybook Garden.
