Author José Skinner shares borderland fiction in "The Search Committee."
In “The Search Committee,” José Skinner takes readers into the uneasy space where university politics meet border realities. When a professor escorts a job candidate across the river for lunch, the trip takes a turn that no one sees coming. The woman vanishes, the professor keeps quiet, and what follows is a chain of cover-ups, assumptions, and consequences that ripple far beyond the classroom.
Skinner, who writes with a sharp eye and a deep understanding of South Texas and the borderlands, delivers a story that blends dark humor with real-world tension. This session offers a look into a novel that isn’t afraid to sit in the uncomfortable and ask hard questions.
Following the session, the author will be signing books in the Computer Lab from 4:00–5:00PM. Book sales will be handled by our exclusive bookseller, The Storybook Garden.
